Happy Friday Friends! I was so excited to start this week and be back to a normal schedule. I got all of our holiday decors put away and finally cleaned up all the mess. What is it about putting away the holiday decor that makes the house look so empty and boring. Once everything was down I felt like we were packing and moving because of the emptiness. I decide to figure what I can do to help bring it back to life. Off to Target and Hobby Lobby I go and boy did I find some really great stuff.
Currently my husband and I are still in a transition page. We both lived alone for a while and had collected “stuff”. Once we moved in together our things don’t really match so we are slowly trying to figure out our home style. Of course he had a bachelor pad style and mine was very girly. We each got rid of some of our things and kept the basics. One of these days we would like to purchase furniture. But for now, we are filling in the gaps with smaller purchases.
I wanted to put a wall shelf that I can easily transition with each season/holiday. A little tip on hang thing on the wall is using paper to mark out where the hooks are and sticking it to the wall before hammering/drilling the wall. This gives you an idea how it will look and where you need to drill. Once you measured everything and marked the spots use a level to make sure it is straight. Then start drilling. Now comes my favorite part…decorating.
When you decorate stick to odd grouping because it looks best. Also make sure that you have different heights for each pieces and add some texture. Finish off with an accent color or a small plant. My favorite is faux plants because you don’t have to worry about watering them especially if its on a wall shelf. Step back and see how you like it.
Here is an additional tip if want to hang pictures on your wall or do a gallery style wall. Layout the items on the floor how you would want to hang them up. This gives you an idea of how it will look and it’s easy to play around till you like the layout. If you are doing gallery wall, play around with different heights also add other objects like arrows, pennants, hats, etc. Play around till you find what works best for you.
Decorating is one of my favorite things to do. I will share more of these through out the year. Hopefully this is helpful to you and inspires you to decorate.
