Pumpkin Makeover

Broard and brush 3

It’s September so it’s basically fall and time to bring out all things fall related. I read somewhere that people who decorate early for the holidays are happier people. How could you not be happy with everything decked out. So if decorating early is wrong…then I don’t want to be right. I started decorating for fall already. No I’m not done yet because the Christmas tree is not out yet. Yes, I bring my Christmas tree out and decorate it for fall. Again it brings me joy so it comes out and I decorate it for fall. (It makes it easier to transition when I start decorating for Christmas!)

This year I wanted more of a neutral toned colors for fall. I bought these colorful pumpkins from Dollar Tree and Walmart and decided to make them the color I wanted. These are much cheaper (small pumpkins are $1 and larger pumpkins are less than $5) plus you can paint them any color you want.

I bought a couple white matte finish acrylic paint from Walmart. (The picture is Bark Brown color because I forgot to take a picture of the white before throwing it away. But the brand is the same.) I removed the stem and started painting them. Some of the vibrant orange color took several coats. Be sure to let it dry between coats. I also painted the stem but you can replace them with an actual stem for a more realistic look if you would like. Once everything is painted and dry, I used my hot glue gun to secure the stem. That’s it! It’s so easy and you can choose any color you want to match your color scheme.

Now for the fun part, decorating! I knew I wanted pumpkins as table centerpieces as well as on the mantle. I love how they turned out. Do you decorate for fall early?
