Hello everyone!!! I know it’s been awhile since I wrote my last blog post. Life just got so busy and I had to give something up and sadly I had to put a paused on blogging. Thankful that I can get back to it again. Thank you for sticking around and supporting me. So let catch up what has happened in the past 3-4 months. Sorry this is a long post but its 3 months of life update how can I keep it short.
My last blog post was back in April regarding Easter outfits. I knew April was going to be busy however I did not expect things to change so quickly in my life. You may or may not know that I work at a church (actually I don’t anymore but I did in April, more on this later) and before Easter hits, work gets pretty hectic for us. Easter is our Super Bowl Sunday so lots of prep work before the big day! We typically try to launch new and exciting things during this time because most people will attend church during Easter. Although it is a busy time for work, it is one of my favorites because there’s just something about celebrating our Risen Savior that brings people together. The joy and hope that comes from knowing He has conquered death!
One of my good friends from college was getting married in April so John (my boyfriend) and I went to Dallas/Fort Worth area to celebrate her wedding. It was so much fun catching up with some of my friends from college who I haven’t seen in a long time. That same night, John’s cousin was having a quinceanera party so we celebrated with his family as well. The next day John had a Texas Ranger 5K run. It was a cold morning but it was fun getting to watch and cheer him on. I used to live in Arlington and after his 5K, I got to show him around my old stomping ground and showed him where I went to college. Then we headed to downtown Fort Worth and walked around the Water Gardens. I love going to this area, even though there’s so many people something about it is just makes it peaceful. By the way this all happened in a weekend, it was definitely a jam packed weekend. And the story is not even over!
After the Water Garden we headed back to west Texas. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, we were talking about our future and what that would look like. John and I had been dating for a while and we both lived in different towns. It’s only 2 hours away but it does make a big difference. We both work a lot of hours and his only day off is my start of the work week. It makes it hard sometimes to spend time together but we did our best to make it work. During our conversation we decide to get married and to get married soon. We choose to get married on July 6th, because we thought 4th of July weekend would help people with time off. (Spoiler Alert: we did not get married on July 6th).
We didn’t tell our family right away because of circumstance. During this time, my mom was in another country and we wanted to tell my parents at the same time. As the end of April was fast approaching, I felt like we were running out of time to start getting things ready. We decided to start telling my side of the family first since most of mine lived outside of Texas. I called my mom to tell her and of course the reception was bad where she was at. She texted me back and I told her I needed to talk to her. She said just text her because she couldn’t hear me. I thought, “You don’t text this type of information to your mom!” Well, I did since I just had to tell her and I couldn’t wait anymore. Of course she found a way so that we can FaceTime and I can tell her properly. From that point on we started slowly telling our families.
Like I said at the begin, I knew April was going to be busy but I did not expect things to change quickly. So the next months I will just highlight some major things that happened.
May was a very exciting month and I wanted to cherish every moment of it. Let’s start with the ring. I had always wanted a certain type of ring, what women doesn’t. Once we started looking, (yes I got to choose my ring…happy dances) I had my eye on a traditional solitaire ring. Then I spotted what is now my ring and I was very surprised that I was drawn to it. First of all, its not what I had always wanted but something about it that kept me eyeing it. It had a stone in the middle with a halo around it and it has small diamonds on the band. I didn’t want a halo or diamonds on the band. I wanted a traditional solitaire ring and this was not it. Once I put it on, I really loved it. Those diamonds on the band are intertwined to make it look like a double infinity sign on both sides, which is something that John and I say to each other. The ring itself is just dainty and I felt like it fits my personality. Not what I had originally thought I would get but it’s perfect for me.
Towards to the end of the month we had our first Wedding Shower with my parents and my church family. It was so pretty and one of my bridesmaid, Brittany did an amazing job with the games. It was such a fun day getting to celebrate with everyone. The next day, my parents and I headed to San Antonio to shop for my wedding dress.
I knew we had one day to get my dress so I did a lot of research before we left. I wanted something modest and simple. I looked online and found a dress at David’s Bridal. The one I fell in love with said it would not be ready till August which obviously won’t work because we are getting married in July. I decided to still try for it and set up an appointment with them. I selected other dresses that were similar to that style. Just a side note, David’s Bridal was so helpful from start to finish. I set up my profile online. selected the dresses I like and made my appointment. When we got to David’s Bridal, the person who was assisting me was Martha and she was so friendly and accommodating both to my mom and me. She had already printed out my dress selection and had it ready in the fitting room. She asked me which one was my favorite and the one that I really wanted was available in my sized!!!! Which one did I try on first? If you said my favorite, you would be correct. It was prefect and it was exactly how I wanted it to be. Now I didn’t want to wear a veil but when she added one it just seemed to go perfectly with the dress. I had the biggest smile on my face and yes I did cry a little bit from excitement. It was at that moment that I knew everything was going to be perfect or as prefect as everything could be.
June was a bit of a struggle for me and it was full of every emotions possible. This was the month that I had to get everything done and ready for our wedding. It’s also the month and I had to start packing to get ready to moved after our wedding. It’s also the month that I had to say goodbye to the job I had prayed and asked for, the job that I had wanted and loved. The job that wasn’t a job but a family that I had and now leaving behind. This was by far one of the most difficult month I have had in a very long time. There were so many tears, laughter, encouragement, and lot and lots of prayer during this month.
The most amazing part is that God knows what we need even before we know what we need. I had planned to resign from the church at the end of June which I thought would still give me plenty of time to finish all the wedding preparation, and get my stuff packed. Due to circumstances, I had to resign sooner which was actually a blessing in disguised. I honestly would have made myself sick from stress trying to finish everything that I needed too. Because of that decision, I was able to hang out with friends and be able to spend good quality time before moving. I was able to go to all my vendor appointments without having to get everything done during my lunch hour. I was able to relax and soak in all the moments before the wedding. There were still some tears because my whole world was changing but they were happy tears because I was excited to spend everyday with my best friend. As the month was coming to an end we had another Wedding Shower with John’s side of the family.
This was a perfect way to end the month. It was so much fun and full of laughter and love. John comes from a big family who love to spend time together with each other and that’s something I’m not used too. I don’t live near my family and when we get together there’s only a few of us. I do have a big family on my mom’s side but they live in the Philippines and I don’t get to see them often. I’m excited to be part of another family. The month started out rough but the ending was beautiful.
If you have read this whole thing, THANK YOU! I know it’s a lot but the last few months have been busy and now you know why. I’m leaving the month of July off because I want to do specific post about our wedding and about moving. I will be doing more weekly blog post now so hopefully they won’t be as long (the wedding one might be). I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this and for supporting me.
